Howard Hatch, a pool player and award winning furniture designer, has recently taken the art of pool playing to a new level by offering artful custom-designed pool tables to suit any home décor.

"As a custom furniture designer, I tend to see pool tables as much more than simply a game table," said Hatch, who has been designing furniture for over 30 years and has his own line of pool tables he sells starting at $18,000. "There is a lot you can do to make a pool table imaginatively beautiful, and even a work of art." Hatch has poured his own creativity in his designs of high end pool tables by using selected woods that are meticulously hand-crafted and styled with inlays of wood veneer, mother-of-pearl, and metals.

Hatch creates his custom designs in collaboration with clients, in styles ranging from art-deco to craftsman-style to ultra-modern. "My clients like the fact that I'm able to take inspiration for my designs from the architectural styles of my their homes. In the case of my "Wave" table, I worked with the Ocean design themes in my clients' house. My arch table was inspired by the curved hand-hewn beams in another clients house," said Hatch. These designs are now part of his standard inventory.
